As a BIM Manager I strive to find the new best use of BIM from prefabrication to safety on the jobsite. With over 18 years’ experience across a wide variety of fields, my career started with the US Navy Seabees as a tradesman, which led to a position as an estimator with W.G. Yates and Sons the a BIM Manager with McCarthy Building Companies, now as a BIM manager for CRB Builders. Today, in my role as a BIM Manager, I am successful at bridging a variety of knowledge sets, resulting in practical implementation of BIM as part of a collaborative process with owners, design partners and subcontractors on our projects. The future is now and we need to embrace what technology brings us while not forgetting what got us here. When I started in the industry, construction for me was a tool belt and a jobsite, now with the broad advent and adoption of BIM in the industry the game has changed to be about information and getting it to all the stakeholders at the key time in the construction process. Today I spend a lot of time focusing on “Blue Sky” ideas and bringing them to terra firma so we can see impacting results for our workers, clients, and partners.
