Google Inc. has agreed to sell its SketchUp business, and sell or license related products and services, to Trimble Navigation Limited. Read more about the sale, and about SketchUp’s future at Trimble, in the official announcement on the SketchUp blog and on Trimble’s website.
If you’re a user or licensee of SketchUp, or a user of the Trimble 3D Warehouse, this will affect your rights - please read this notice carefully.
Google has agreed to sell the SketchUp business and technology (including all free and paid versions of the SketchUp software, past and future) to Trimble. We anticipate the sale to close shortly, although the exact date is unknown - we’ll update this notice with the final Closing Date as soon as we can.
On the Closing Date all rights and obligations of Google under the SketchUp and SketchUp Pro license terms will assign to Trimble. Users of SketchUp after the Closing Date will become Trimble users.
Google has also agreed to transfer rights in the Trimble 3D Warehouse to Trimble. This will affect models which are hosted in the 3D Warehouse now and in the future.
All models will continue to be hosted by Google, under contract with Trimble, and made available in an updated 3D Warehouse. Your existing models will continue to appear in the 3D Warehouse, but Google and Trimble’s rights in the models may differ:
In addition, Google will share with Trimble data associated with all models hosted in the Trimble 3D Warehouse on the Closing Date (which may include user information, model descriptions, tags, ratings etc). Trimble will use this data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to Google assigning its rights and obligations under your SketchUp and/or SketchUp Pro license agreement you must cease all use of SketchUp under your license as soon as possible (and in any event before the Closing Date). You may then also request that Google does not share your user data with Trimble by completing this web form before the Closing Date.
If you do not agree to Google licensing, assigning and sharing your Trimble 3D Warehouse data (including 3D models and user data) as set out in this notice, you must remove models from the Trimble 3D Warehouse prior to the Closing Date.
Google will update this page soon with details of the Closing Date. We will also provide advanced notice of changes to the 3D Warehouse Terms of Service, and copies of all applicable Trimble terms and privacy notices.
If you have specific questions about using SketchUp and the 3D Warehouse after the Closing Date, please contact Trimble here: http://www.trimble.com/3d/contact_us.aspx
