Trimble SketchUp

SketchUp for K-12 Education

K-12 educators and students from all over the world use SketchUp to explore, explain and present their ideas using 3D models.

Choose between two versions of SketchUp

SketchUp users in K-12 Education can choose between SketchUp (the free version) or SketchUp Pro (which is free for educators and extremely affordable, or in some cases granted, for students and schools). We recommend that most folks in K-12 education try out SketchUp (free) - there's no licensing to worry about, and students can download and install it on their computers at home.

Haven't downloaded SketchUp yet?

No matter which version you choose, you get SketchUp by downloading it from this website. If you download SketchUp Pro, you'll need a license to keep using it after the free 8 hour trial period is over; see below for more information on Pro licensing.

Think you might need SketchUp Pro?

To run SketchUp Pro, you'll need a license. You have two options on obtaining a Pro license:

SketchUp Pro K-12 Statewide License Grant Program

Your state technology director may apply for a SketchUp Pro Statewide License Grant from us. Check our site to see if your state has already been granted a license first.

Purchase a SketchUp Pro License

If your state does not participate in the statewide license grant program, you can also order directly from one of our educational resellers who offer licenses for educators, students, and networked school labs. If you need a laptop license, you can order directly from us.
